First Morning in
America
Lee M Vo
The campus so
tranquil
In early morning dew
Velvety chill
Brushing…Brushing my
cheeks
Ah! Orange blossoms
So white, so crisp
Intoxicating
Fragrance bursting in my lungs
Never saw an orange orange before!
A wonder in my hand,
indeed
So firm yet so smooth
Sinful, mouthwatering
treat
Walking in a heavenly dream
Leaving all my
hardship behind
The path to my future
So open and so bright.
